Anti Ragging Committee

 

Aims

Ragging free college

 

Objectives

  • To aware the evil effect of ragging
  • To keep a continuous watch and vigil over ragging so as to prevent its occurrence and recurrence
  • To promptly and strictly deal with the incidents of ragging if arises

 

Policy making

Ragging is strictly forbidden in or outside the college. All students shall familiarize themselves with rules/regulations/guidelines on code of conduct, anti-ragging measures and discipline of College. All ‘new comers’ should attend counselling sessions organized for them from time to time by the college staff. An affidavit is given by every ‘new comers’ student and his/her parents/Guardian avowing not to indulge in ragging.

Each academic year, there are reconstructions of the Anti- Ragging Sub-Committee. Anti- Ragging Sub-Committee is consisted of three-four faculty members with a convener. The convener of this committee conducts meetings four times in a year with the members under the supervision of Officer-In- charge and Secretary of Teachers Council.

At the beginning of the academic year, as per regular practice the heads of all departments visit the classes of all senior students of their respective departments and create awareness about the legal consequences of ragging and inform them not to involve in any such bad practices. Sensitization programme is arranged on prevention of ragging for 1st year students of the college to aware them about ragging. In each year, college also celebrates the fresher's day. The main motto of the event is to maintain the friendly relationship among first year and second year students with their teachers. 

 Anti-Ragging Sub-Committee is actively functioning to prevent ragging. If any case of ragging arises in future, the Officer-In-Charge of this college will forward the issue to the Anti-Ragging Sub-committee for further proceeding. According to the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt established by Anti-Ragging Sub-committee, those found guilty may be awarded one or more of the following punishments, namely;

  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
  • Withholding/ withdrawing any benefits.
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/ examination or another evaluation process.
  • Withholding results.
  • Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
  • Cancellation of admission.
  • Rustication from the college for periods ranging from one to four semesters.
  • Expulsion from the college and consequent debarring from admission to any other college for a specified period.
